Christine Scott, professional dog trainer and company owner of Great Scott Dog Training in Florida, did not start out as a dog lover. In the beginning, she was a frustrated dog owner, wondering why she had gotten a dog in the first place. Her rescue dog, Mutley, was a group obedience training disaster and her next rescue dog, Rusty, introduced himself into her household by peeing on her indoor plants and humping the cat.
This is the beginning of Christine’s long journey, from a frustrated dog owner to a professional dog trainer. As her dogs' behavior improved, her love for them deepened. Over the years, as she was working with her dogs and other people's dogs, she began to truly appreciate the wonderful enrichment that a well-behaved dog can add to a family's life. Christine learned that even the most unlikely dog candidate can become the most wonderful pet and model dog of the neighborhood.
As a dog trainer, Christine’s methods are positive reinforcement based, which means that dog training and behavior modification are based on a reward system rather than a punishment system.
